ONE SIBUYAN|

A legacy to conserve & future to sustain.

Sibuyan island is a hidden gem in the heart of the Philippines, whose global uniqueness was forged by millions of years of isolation. Faced with growing threats, the One Sibuyan Initiative is committed to protecting its biodiversity and empowering its people, supporting science, education, and community-led action.

Our Mission.

Dedicated to the conservation of Sibuyan Island’s unique biodiversity, empowering community initiatives and fostering global recognition of its singularity.

A Globally Unique Island.

Sibuyan Island, the "Galápagos of Asia," is a biodiversity hotspot with dense forests and numerous endemic species in the heart of the Philippines. However, economic challenges and resource exploitation threaten its fragile ecosystems. Balancing conservation and sustainable development is key to preserving its unique natural heritage.

Isa Lang: A Story of Sibuyan.

"Isa Lang" (meaning "Only One" in Tagalog) is an upcoming short film, capturing the breathtaking essence and urgent challenges of Sibuyan Island. Currently in development, the film will explore the deep connection between the island’s communities and its forests, reefs, and rivers—highlighting community stakeholders, conservationist, and local fisherfolk. Through their stories, the profound recognition that there is only one Sibuyan island comes to life.

Our Story.

With a deep connection to the island, we work to conserve Sibuyan’s biodiversity and the lives that make this place our home.

Even though our trees grow on American soil, our roots will always be in the Philippines.
